
Course Description:Anthropology is the scientific study of humans in all places, past and present. The goal of this course is to explore the ultimate question of, “Who are we and how did we come to be this way?” This course will take an applied approach that uses anthropological principles and research methods to examine real-world situations to guide the decision-making process in the business world. Articles and case studies will be used to illustrate the complexity involved in planning, implementing and evaluating economic and social change projects. Topics to be covered include: cultural universals, primate and human behavior, cross-cultural behaviors, cultural and biological changes in the past and present, alternative family and marriage forms, gender roles, race and ethnicity and cultural change.
